The origins of Domaine Arlaud date back to World War II when Joseph Arlaud, from the Ardėche, met and married a lady from Bourgogne, Renée Amiot, whose family owned a vineyard. The couple developed and expanded the domaine. In 1982, their son, Hervé Arlaud took over and enlarged the domaine further, while developing bottle sales. Today, the third generation (Bertille, Cyprien and Romain) manage the operation and do very high quality work. The 15 hectare vineyard is certified organic and biodynamic and includes the very fine terroirs of Bonnes-Mares, Charmes-Chambertin and also Clos de la Roche. The vines and soil are well worked (ploughed by horses) and the élevage is increasingly controlled, producing magnificent, very pure wine with remarkable finesse. Carried by supple tanins, this wine is round and lively with aromas of reed and black fruits. The terroir’s exposure confers a certain sugary character to the fruit that we can perceive in the wine produced – this brings it suppleness and delicacy. A wine to enjoy alongside delicately cooked red meat.
