Information
Château Climens, owned by the Lurton family since 1971, is undoubtedly one of the world's greatest fortified wines. Its vineyard stretches over 30 hectares of Sémillon. Its soil is comprised of fine gravel and red sand over a calcareous bedrock. The vines have an average age of 35 years, with annual renewal around the 3 to 4% mark. Yields here remain some of the lowest in the appellation in order to obtain unique levels of concentration. Harvest workers carefully select grapes that are rich in botrytis cinerea (Sauternais' famous noble rot). After fermentation in oak barrels, the wine is aged for two years before being bottled.
Cyprès de Climes is the second wine of this iconic château of the vineyard of Barsac. Although it is not produced every year, it is very popular as more accessible than its older brother. Thus, its aromatic bouquet is reminiscent of white flowers, citrus fruit, yellow fruit and vanilla. Fresh, delicate and smooth, it can be enjoyed both during meals and as an aperitif.
