Information
Founded in 1999 under Sylvie Gros and Bruno Lafon, Domaine Magellan features 30 hectares covering two different terroirs. One is built on terraces while the other is at Pech Redon: the commanding rock formation with a unique sandstone soil. From the word go, Sylvie Gros and Bruno Lafon have stuck by their hand harvesting, organic winegrowing and traditional winemaking methods.
This pure Grenache - a variety which originates in the adjoining country of Spain - reveals itself in a particularly mature and fruity register. It can be enjoyed for its refined tannins and indulgent, drinkable substance. For that reason, avoid too powerful a food pairing: opt instead for refined meats and cheeses to avoid overpowering its chewy silkiness. The domain has used manual harvesting methods to pick the organically-cultivated Grenache grapes, grown in soils rich with large rounded pebbles. The wine is then matured in concrete vats to preserve its aromatic freshness.
