Information
Following in the footsteps of Tenuta San Guido, Grattamacco represents the generation of so-called Super Tuscan wines. The domaine was established in 1977 in the heart of the Bolgheri appellation and boasts an ideal climate. It enjoys a maritime influence and is protected by the hills in which it nestles. As is the case with all “Super Tuscans”, Bordeaux grape varieties are grown and vinified to create outstanding cuvées. The domaine has now earned itself an international reputation. Not to be missed at any cost!
Promimity to the sea lends this wine an unusual marine character. This blend of Bordeaux grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot) and Sangiovese has been fermented in tapered wooden vats with native yeasts. The wine produces fruity, spicy aromas. The palate is exuberant, with spicy, fruity Mediterranean notes and mellow tannins.
