Information
The two brothers Benjamin and David Duclaux manage this domaine, created in 1928 by their great grandfather. Together they cultivate, by hand, 5.8 hectares of vines on the steep slopes of Tupons and Semons to make elegant Côte-Rôtie. Love and care goes into both viticulture and vinification and the grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness. Maturation is long and new oak is used in moderation. These wines seduce critics thanks to their ability to offer an elegant reflection of the gneiss rich soil so prolific in the southern terroirs of the Côte-Rôtie and a skilled maturation that gives them well integrated oak.
In keeping with winemaking tradition in this appellation, this cuvée places the emphasis on Viognier. This white grape variety compliments Syrah beautifully adding a delicate texture and floral aromas to the red grape’s peppery, violet and dark fruit notes. To make this wine, the Duclaux brothers harvest their grapes by hand and mainly use demi-muids for maturation. They recommend drinking this wine right away and pairing it with a quality cut of meat.
