Information
Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau was created in 2009 in Pierreclos, in the Mâconnais. With his companion Caroline Gon, they studied and began their careers in wine. Their organic vineyard covers about 7 hectares. Soils are ploughed, yields are controlled and vinification has little intervention (fermentation with native yeast only). The wines of Frantz Chagnoleau are similar to their terroir, in that they are rich, precise and complex. A domaine that never ceases to amaze us.
The Viré-Clessé Les Raspillères from Domain Frantz Chagnoleau is located on light clay-limestone soils and a subsoil of Jurassic limestome. The vines lie on steep hillsides and benefit from good drainage and full exposure, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. The nose offers an array of aromas, from yellow fruits and spices such as pepper. When tasting, this wine is characterised by its rich and round palate, with grilled notes and a pleasantly bitter, saline finish. Cellar for several years (ideally around 5 years). It will come into its own with grilled fish.
