Information
Jérôme Bretaudeau acquired 9 hectares of vines in Gétigné in the early 2000s. After a few more purchases, his estate totalled 10 hectares of organically cultivated vines by 2005. This is a leading light of the appellation and a sound investment.
This wine is produced from 50-year-old Merlot vines cultivated on a granitic terroir with all the advantages of a south, south-east facing aspect. The berries are harvested by hand and macerated for three weeks and the wine is aged in barriques (60%) and terracotta amphorae (40%). The nose is very refined, with red fruit aromas, and the supple palate is balanced by a fresh acidity which also gives it persistence.
