Information
This family-owned domain was created in 1948 by Joseph Altare in Morra in Piemonte, with vines in both Barbera and Dolcetto. But it is his grandson who has raised this domain to its iconic status. A journey to Burgundy in 1976 allegedly changed his vision of viticulture of vinification. He then had to convince his father of the value of this revolutionary vision. Domain Elio Altare is now sought-after by the most specialist of wine lovers, although with only 10 hectares of vines, the bottles are rare. Elio Altare launched another project - the domain in question – by replanting vines close to Cinqueterre. This fabulous landscape facing the sea produces Altare’s other wines: Cinqueterre Campogrande. White and red wines alike are superb.
This superb wine is born in Cinqueterre, amid breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. it is produced by Elio Altare, one of Barolo's most prestigious producers, who set out with the goal of reviving this defunct vineyard. Barolo and Albarola are the two native grape varieties used to produce this wine. The wine exudes aromas of citrus and yellow fruit. It reveals beautiful substance in the mouth. However, it also has an attractively taut acidity. The slightly saline finish is superb!
