Information
Bodegas Toro Albala was established in 1844 in Aguilar de la Frontera, 50 kilometres from Cordova, by Antonio Sánchez Prieto. The vineyard is now run by Antonio Sanchez Romero and the grape varieties grown include a high proportion of indigenous Pedro Ximenez. Toro Albala is divided between two main sites, one in Aguilar de la Frontera and the other in Moriles. Wine from this reference domaine for the region is exported to all four corners of the globe.
Pedro Ximenez is sometimes known as P.X. It is used in Xérès to produce sweet wines. Although it starts out white, over the years it develops an almost black colour. This was matured for 35 years. On the nose, white pepper, cloves, nutmeg, dried fruit, smoke and tobacco. On the palate, there is an excellent freshness on an otherwise warm finish lifted by notes of dried fruits. A superb wine.
