Information
This American domain is located in the Santa Cruz Mountain region, not far from the village of Bonny Doon. This mountainous massif on the Pacific coast is situated just to the north of California. It was created by Randall Grahm, a French wine enthusiast who studied viticulture at the University of California. In this moderate climate, he tried first of all to plant Pinot noir, to no avail. He then turned to the famous trio of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. His superb wines and their zany labels earnt him the nickname “The Rhone Ranger”.
This blend of Rhone varieties is absolutely superb. The nose has animal notes, with aromas of game, cigar and spices. On the palate, the wine is full or silky tannins. The finish is superb, with a slight bitterness.
