Information
In 1999, Jean-Baptiste officially took over Domaine Michel Bouzereau, proudly adding ‘et fils' to the estate name. This producer inherited a well-established family history, since the Bouzereaus have been making wine in Meursault for 7 generations. Observant and attentive, Jean-Baptiste spends most of his time in the vineyard, carefully watching the vines and working on the soil, convinced as he is that healthy fruit is the key to fine wine. The vines are grown sustainably with a philosophy moving towards organics. In 2008, he finished working on his new winery, giving him much more space to take care of each of his cuvées individually and adapt to their rhythm. The wines all come from parcels in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Pommard and Volnay, each of them increasingly appreciated for their elegance and finesse. Each of them respect the specificity of terroir and vintage.
The Bouzereau family has been growing vines in Meursault for seven generations. Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau is now responsible for cultivating this ten-hectare vineyard, including some excellent terroirs. His wines are precise, elegant and drinkable; and although the grower may be unassuming, the results he obtains still earn plaudits from critics.
This cuvée is produced partly from vineyards planted in 1939, combined with younger vines. It is matured for 16-18 months in oak vats with around 30% new oak. On the nose, this Meursault delivers attractive buttery brioche aromas, ripe fruit and mineral notes. The palate has a rich, taut fullness and a very long finish.
