Information
Pierre André founded his domain in 1957 in the firm belief that vines do not need chemical products to yield very high-quality wines. From 1963 onwards he consistently reduced chemical treatments at his vineyards. The domain achieved certified organic status in 1980 and is generally thought of as a pioneer. Pierre’s daughter Jacqueline took over the property in 1984 and has continued to work with the same philosophy as her father. Certified as biodynamic in 1992, Domaine Pierre Andre is one of a kind, and undoubtedly one of the best wines in the appellation today.
Made with the same care as a Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this biodynamic wine has been vinified in whole bunches and undergone a long vatting (1 month). Indigenous yeasts are used in the fermentation process, and maturation lasts for one year in concrete vats and oak barrels. It is never filtered and only rarely fined before bottling. It delivers very seductive floral and spicy notes. It is advisable to open it in advance and decant it before serving. This wine will keep well, and forms a great pairing with special dishes such as deer paté with pan-fried mushrooms.
