Information
Descendants of a long line of wine enthusiasts, Hubert and Bernard Trimbach manage the property with their sons Pierre and Jean. Firmly rooted in Alsace since 1626, the Trimbach name rapidly gained a regional and then international reputation, largely thanks to Frédéric-Emile Trimbach at the end of the 19th century. The property is located on some magnificent terroirs, some benefitting from grand cru status, but appellation approval has never really interested the Trimbach family, who prefer to produce distinguished blends that they market under their own brand names. Their vinification methods have resisted the siren call of modern technology; the owners monitor every stage, with a strict respect for tradition, in order to ensure that the famous "Trimbach style" is preserved, which serves as an international benchmark for Alsace wines.
The Selections de Grains Nobles from Domaine Trimbach is a rare beast indeed; the result of painsktaking successive pickings of the ripe fruit shrivelled by noble rot. The resulting cuvée be rich and concentrated, but never heavy. If left to cellar for a good 10 years it will reward you with its luscious aromatic complexity. A wine to savour on a long, cold Winter’s evening. Out of this world.
