Information
The spearhead of the Languedoc wine revolution, Mas Jullien was created by Olivier Jullien in 1985. Located in Joncquières, to the north of Montpellier, the domain covers 18 hectares. By studying his soils carefully and using native grape varieties, Olivier Jullien has elevated his domain to the highest levels of excellence, producing refined, subtle, perfectly-balanced wines. The vineyard is cultivated in an environmentally friendly way, and was even organically certified for a while. Olivier Jullien produces superb wines which are acknowledged and sought out by connoisseurs and professionals alike. Thanks to his work, the domain is now clearly at the very peak of the appellation.
Autour de Jonquières comes from a blend of about ten lieux-dits around the village and in the neighbouring communes, selected for their complementarity. This cuvée is vinified by gentle extraction, with punching down and pumping over. The wine is then aged for 12 months in demi-muids (single-plot vinification). After blending, a further 12-month aging process takes place in foudres. An expressive, deep and complex wine is the result.
