Information
Domaine Valentin Zusslin is a longtime darling of critics and wine guides (including Bettane & Desseauve and the RVF). The 16 hectare estate which is based in Orschwihr, just south of Colmar, converted to biodynamic viticulture in 1997. Wines are produced from a total of 9 different grape varieties, featuring crystalline whites and structured Pinot Noirs perfect for cellaring.
Domaine Zusslin acquired the Neuberg vineyard in 2014 and began producing this parcel’s delicious Premier Cru. Its sunny aspect means the fruit matures slowly but surely, whilst the limestone bedrock gives the wine its stark minerality and crunch. Vinification entails long whole-cluster pressing and a lengthy oak barrel maturation on fine lees. The resulting wine is racy with fresh aromas of white-fleshed fruits; in the mouth it’s straight, fresh and mineral. A truly dynamic biodynamic.
