Information
Paul Kubler is a thirteeth-generation winemaker – his antecedants began winemaking in 1620 – who is renowned for the exceptional purity of his wines. Currently in the process of converting his vineyard to organic cultivation, Kubler is particularly alert to respecting the vines and the traditional local grape varieties. He lets Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Gris and Noir speak for themselves on his 9 hectares of vineyard around Soultzmatt, featuring some parcels of Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé. His wines are split into three tiers, of an ever-increasing quality: the Vins de Fruits, or “fruit wines” which are made to express varietal character; the terroir-driven Vins de Pierre or “stone wines” and the Vins Liquoreux or “sweet wines” which include the Vendanges Tardives and Sélections de Grains Nobles.
The letter K on the bottle shows that this cuvée belongs to the domain’s range of fruity wines. As the name suggests, this fruity, juicy wine showcases the purity and sincerity of the grape variety. Manual harvests are followed by fermentation in old oak barrels; the wines are then matured on fine lees in vats. The wine has a rich, deep profile, with notes typical of Gewurztraminer (exotic fruits, rose and sweet spices).
