Information
The origins of Château de Brézé can be traced back to the eleventh century and today it is still owned by descendents of the ancient lords of Brézé. The Renaissance style building (restored in the nineteenth century) is listed among France's historical monuments. Ten kilometres from Saumur, Château Brezé's vineyard covers 25 hectares and is planted with Chenin and Cabernet Franc. Yves and Arnaud Lambert from Domaine de Saint-Just have been running the domaine since 2009 and are now farming it organically. They now also produce wines from each parcel. These are changes which all point to great developments for the domaine which could regain its former splendour.
This Cabernet Franc reveals itself in an extremely indulgent register, with notes of red berries and a slightly spicy, even peppery finish. Its attractive substance complements its juicy character, giving it a keeping potential of around ten years.
