Information
Dominique Belluard took up the family domain after completing studies in viticulture and oenology. Very quickly, he realised the treasure he had to tend to. As this project progressed, the producer went from conventional growing to organic, later converting to biodynamic agriculture. Not a simple feat considering his ten hectares of vines grow on steep slopes in the Savoie region. All this work has one objective: to preserve the Gringet grapes he proudly keeps. This is a real jewel, as only around twenty hectares of this varietal are grown worldwide! In the winery, work is just as thorough. Vinification involves very little intervention so the wine can express the nobility of its varied terroir, as well as the identity of the Gringet and Mondeuse grapes. Wild yeasts ferment the juice, and the wine is matured in amphora and concrete, ovoid containers. We recommend these wines for their finesse and strong, aromatic personality.
The cuvée Mondeuse is extremely rare (only 1000 bottles produced per year). As a matter of fact, the grape variety Mondeuse represents only 3% of Domaine Belluard’s vines. It is raised in amphorae, which lends it a certain silkiness and produces a light, fresh wine. On the palate, aromas of red fruits and spices abound. Superb, a gem of the Savoie!
