Information
Founded in 1974, Il Marroneto owes its name to an ancient mediaeval tower in which nuns used to store the chestnuts they used for making flour. Today, Alessandro and Andrea have taken over the baton from their father Mori. These two former lawyers have established excellent credentials as wine producers. Alessandro creates extremely elegant wines by raising healthy vines, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation, and ageing his wines traditionally in casks.
This Brunello is – in accordance with the appellation's regulations – a pure Sangiovese matured for 40 months in oak barrels, with nearly two additional years in the bottle before being sold. Made for keeping, it will reveal a delicate bouquet filled with notes of black berries and candied fruits. The wine is well defined, with a palate which ends with a tannic impression; a perfect accompaniment for meat dishes.
