Information
The Schiopetto domaine boasts an unrivalled reputation both in Italy and internationally. The hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of head of the family, Mario, mean that it is now one of the finest white wine producers in the country. His children have taken on his mantle since he passed away. Nestling in the hills running along the border with Slovenia, and sheltered to the north by high alpine summits, the vineyard has a microclimate which allows grapes to reach peak ripeness with an appealing acidity. The younger generation has decided to extend ageing. Year on year, the domaine successfully produces high-quality wines which are establishing an ever higher profile.
This white wine is a blend of Chardonnay and "Friulano" (Sauvignon Vert), a classic variety from the Collio Goriziano appellation. It was Mario Schiopetto's goal to make the most of the great potential of both grapes. Elevage lasts at least six months in the bottle, and there is a real balance between the maturity of the fruit and the acidity on the palate. An easy white wine for pairing, which will go well with starters and fish dishes alike, as well as white meats.
