Information
Quinta de la Rosa in the Douro region was a christening gift to Claire Feuheerd in 1906. Her granddaughter Sophia revived the domaine, assisted by her father, Tim Bergqvist, with the ambition of making it the reference in the region. Oenologist Jorge Moreira joined the business in 2002. The vineyard is located on the south-eastern bank of the Douro and the vines rise from the riverbank up to an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. They have an average age of about 40 years. The ports produced here are characterised by a great aromatic subtlety.
This port is a blend of four of the traditional varieties produced within the appellation. Its Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz grapes are kept in large casks for 7 years before bottling. Its structure, ripe tannins and complex notes of dried fruits and spices make it a vigorous wine with great length in the mouth – an archetypally stylish end to a meal. This makes it the perfect accompaniment for parsley-encrusted cheeses or chocolate desserts.
