Information
Quinta de la Rosa in the Douro region was a christening gift to Claire Feuheerd in 1906. Her granddaughter Sophia revived the domaine, assisted by her father, Tim Bergqvist, with the ambition of making it the reference in the region. Oenologist Jorge Moreira joined the business in 2002. The vineyard is located on the south-eastern bank of the Douro and the vines rise from the riverbank up to an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. They have an average age of about 40 years. The ports produced here are characterised by a great aromatic subtlety.
This Douro wine reflects its producer's desire to produce harmonious, well-balanced wines, avoiding over-extraction and an imposing tannic structure. Rich and full-bodied, it is fresh and lively at the same time. This has been achieved by fermenting the wine in small stainless steel vats prior to élevage in French oak barrels. Whether served now or after a few years of keeping, with red meat, it opens into crisp aromas of red berries and a full-bodied, round, persistent palate with well-balanced acidity.
