Information
Poderi Atha Ruja is family domaine founded by Pietro Pittalis and Annita Salis. The vineyard spans 5 hectares in the Oddoene valley, near the town of Dorgali in north-eastern Sardinia. It is surrounded by the Supramonte and Gennargentu mountain chain, which separates the valley from the sea. Their three children, Manuela, Teresa and Eugenio are gradually taking over the reins in order to pursue their passion for producing wines made from three grape varieties: Cannonau Di Sardegna, Carignano and Muristellu (Bovale Sardo).
Cannonau (Grenache) is Sardinia's flagship grape variety, and is used exclusively in the production of this wine. After fermentation, it is matured for 12 months in French barrels before being left to rest in bottles for six months. The nose has great intensity, and the palate has a slight vanilla character, with velvety substance and very refined tannins.
