Information
Located in the Entre-deux-Mers region (in Saint-Loubès), the Château Reignac was built in the 16th century by Seigneur Baude de Peyron. Since 1990, it has been owned by Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot who elevated it, within a few years, to being one of the best domaines in Bordeaux with the help of the consultant oenologist Michel Rolland. The vineyard extends over 80ha in one piece; it is planted mostly with Merlot, but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and, over 2 ha, Sauvignon and Sémillon. In a few years this domaine could impose its style and show the full potential of its appellation. It is now recognised as one of the jewels of the region, able to rival the renowned crus of Bordeaux.
Blanc de Reignac has a slight majority of Sauvignon Blanc, with the rest being Sémillon. It is aged 80% in new barrels and 20% in a concrete vat. It presents aromas of white-fleshed fruit (pear and peach) and white flowers, with smoky and woody notes. On the palate it has good freshness and minerality, density, and fruity (citrus fruits) aromas, and has very good length in the finish. This is a fine, gastronomic white, the perfect accompaniment to fish dishes and sauced white meats.
