Information
Owned by Sogecap (a life insurance branch of the Société Générale group) from 2010 to 2020, Château Mazeyres, which has been run by Alain Moueix since 1992, was bought by the Guillard family in 2020. The estate has grown recently to reach a little over 25 hectares in size. It is also being run under biodynamic principles now. The vineyard is spread over two terroirs, one of which lies on a ridge of sandy gravel with a clayey-gravel sub-soil, while the other is constituted of sand with a molasse sub-soil rich in the famous iron dross typical of legendary Pomerols. The estate produces 120,000 bottle (of which 50,000 are the second wine called Le Seuil de Mazeyres)
Le Seuil de Mazeyre is the second wine of Château Mazeyre and holds both organic and biodynamic certification. This is an honest expression of the local winemaking savoir-faire, a fruit forward and structured profile that loses none of its elegance over time but evolves to reveal spiced, coffee notes thanks to an elevage in oak.
