Information
Domaine Ferraton began in 1946 on the impulse of a winemaker's son, Jean Orëns Ferraton. Following in his footsteps, his own son Michel took to the helm and dedicated himself to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Synthetic inputs, fertilisers and pesticides are prohibited on this vineyard which stretches out between the Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph appellations. We can tell you this for free: the single-vineyard cuvées from this domain are heralded for their subtlety and rarity.
Les Miaux is a hermitage made from Syrah grown on clay, limestone and rolled pebbles. The fully destemmed harvest is then put in vats for one year. The wine is aged in oak barrels (10% new wood) for 14 to 16 months. On tasting, it has a ruby hue that reveals a great aromatic richness made of black fruits, sweet spices and liquorice. These notes unfurl a robust and powerful texture enhanced by silky tannins and ripe fruit flavours. Its aromatic persistence allows wonderful pairings with flavoursome cuts of meat.
