Information
Cloudy Bay, established in 1985 by David Hohnen (one of the founders of Cape Mentelle in Australia) and Kevin Judd, is located in Marlborough, the largest wine region in New Zealand, in the far north of the country. This unique wine-producing region boasts a maritime climate, which is quite cool, and optimal sunshine. The vineyards span 200 hectares, divided into four parcels situated in different sub-regions of Marlborough. The oldest vines belong to the Estate Vineyard and were planted in 1986. The other vineyards (Mustang Vineyard, Widow Block and Barracks Block) were created at a later date and were planted between 1995 and 2004. Cloudy Bay also buys in grapes from small regional producers. The main grape variety is Sauvignon Blanc, whose characteristic Cloudy Bay wines have earned the domaine its reputation.
Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc is the flagship wine of the Marlborough area. It is an indulgent, fruity wine (citrus), with vegetal notes. The palate offers richness and freshness, as well as a long finish. This wine will make the ideal accompaniment for fish dishes.
