Information
Domaine Jacky Truchot, in Morey-Saint-Denis, disappeared in 2006 (the 7 hectares were sold to David Duband through an investor), following the winemaker's retirement. It is a domaine which has remained quite mysterious, very little publicised and of which little is known, only that its wines are sublime and increasingly sought after by connoisseurs, some bottles going for high prices. Jacky Truchot and his wife Liliane took over a cousin's domaine, (Henri Mauffrey) when he died in 1978. The vineyard, which is very prestigious, included some vines planted at the beginning of the last century. After vinifying 26 vintages, the winemaker ended with his fine 2005 vintage. The style of the wines is classic, with considerable elegance and refinement with subtle yet numerous tannins.
Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Clos Sorbés reveals aromas of ripe fruit (plum, blackcurrant) and spicy tea notes. In the mouth, the texture is rich and creamy, with prominent yet mellow tannins and considerable fruitiness. The long finish is attractive. This wine goes very well with poultry dishes such as coq au vin.
