Information
Located to the west of the Mouton and Lafite vineyards, Duhart-Milon lies on gravelly soil with a height difference of more than ten metres. The purchase of the property by the (Lafite) Rothschild family in 1962, brought an end to a rapid succession of owners (five in 25 years) that had left the vineyard in an pitiful state. With the arrival of the Lafite Rothschild teams to care for the vines and supervise the vinification, the wines' consistency steadily increased. By 1978 the quality had markedly improved and the wine has been of a very high standard since 1982.
The Moulin de Duhart is the second wine of the château, produced from younger vines than for the first wine and matured for 10 months in barrels used to age only two wines before. It has similar characteristics to great wines, but it has a smaller aging potential. This wine pairs perfectly with lamb, beef or hind. The expressive bouquet has red fruit aromas. The palate is round, ample and fruity, with soft tannins.
