Information
Pierre André founded his domain in 1957 in the firm belief that vines do not need chemical products to yield very high-quality wines. From 1963 onwards he consistently reduced chemical treatments at his vineyards. The domain achieved certified organic status in 1980 and is generally thought of as a pioneer. Pierre’s daughter Jacqueline took over the property in 1984 and has continued to work with the same philosophy as her father. Certified as biodynamic in 1992, Domaine Pierre Andre is one of a kind, and undoubtedly one of the best wines in the appellation today.
Produced in exceptionally exclusive quantities (1,200 bottles), this white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is very difficult to find. Clairette, Bourboulenc, Grenache and Roussanne grapes are pressed before fermentation. Malolactic fermentation is stunned in order to give the wine as much freshness as possible. The wine is then given a long maturation in concrete vats and oak barrels. It is fined and bottled without filtration. The wine is direct, precise and fresh, revealing intense notes of white fruit and citrus fruit. The palate is full-bodied, rich and fat, but never heavy. It is a highly elegant wine with a finish characterised by refinement.
