Information
Pierre André founded his domain in 1957 in the firm belief that vines do not need chemical products to yield very high-quality wines. From 1963 onwards he consistently reduced chemical treatments at his vineyards. The domain achieved certified organic status in 1980 and is generally thought of as a pioneer. Pierre’s daughter Jacqueline took over the property in 1984 and has continued to work with the same philosophy as her father. Certified as biodynamic in 1992, Domaine Pierre Andre is one of a kind, and undoubtedly one of the best wines in the appellation today.
Produced according to organic and biodynamic principles, this wine has received the utmost care in its creation. The grape varieties are grown in a range of soils including pudding stones, limestone, sand and clay. The vineyard reaps the benefits of the Mediterranean climate and its famous Mistral winds. The bouquet is initially subtle, then reveals notes of ripe fruit (plums, citrus peel). The secondary aromas reveal more complex notes of spices, cocoa, aromatic herbs and menthol. The palate opens with breadth and generosity. The same fruity, spicy notes are revisited, ending with mellow tannins. This is a wine with control and energy to spare. Even after a few years, this wine retains all its vitality, despite its density.
