Information
Located between Uzès and Sommières, surrounded by scrubland, Mas d'Espanet has been run by Denys and Agnès Armand since 1980. The abandoned domain needed considerable work to maintain the old vines, producing local red varietals and plantations of white grapes chosen for their emotional appeal – and for the terroir, of course. In 1999, a winery was built for vinifying the grapes from this 20-hectare vineyard, which is both organically and biodynamically certified.
This single grape variety of Cinsault is destemmed and vinified in vats. Maceration is short in order to conserve its fruity aromas. The wine is aged for 6 months in vats. Its purple hue reveals a light wine with soft tannins which unveils aromas of red fruit (cherry and strawberry) as well as floral notes (freesia). It is a really refreshing wine, festive and crisp. Drink chilled like a summer rosé.
