Information
Domaine Jean-Baptiste Sénat, at the heart of the Minervois AOC, covers some fifteen hectares. The running of the family business was taken over by Jean-Baptiste and his wife Charlotte in 1996, despite having had no plans to follow this path… proof that a qualification in politics can take you anywhere! The property they inherited is very rich in wine terms, with many old vines (some more than a hundred years old). They cultivate their vineyard organically, work their soils, de-earth under the vines, etc. The intention is to produce "vins de terroir" which are well made and full of fruit. This domain has risen to become one of the most emblematic and sought after in Languedoc.
La Nine has a dense and powerful nose, opening with dark fruit aromas (blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry) followed by notes of spice, liquorice and cedar, and a delicate floral hint. The palate is concentrated, fruity and velvety. Jean-Baptiste Sénat and his wife Charlotte produce this wine from vines grown on clay and limestone soil and restrict their yield to 35 hectolitres per hectare. The grapes are fully de-stemmed and vinified in vats and barriques.
