Information
Stéphane Bernaudeau, who works for Domaine Mark Angeli, also owns just over 2 hectares of vines in Anjou in the Martigné-Briand district. This small-scale concern has been very successful and it is hard to get hold of bottles of its Chenin cuvées as their quality is so high. These wines have a distinctive depth, energy and minerality. We can highly recommend wines from this outstanding producer.
The emblematic cuvée from Stéphane Bernaudeau, Les Nourrissons is produced in the most natural way possible. The 100-year-old Chenin vines bear fruit in schist soils, in the terroir of Aubigné sur Layon. Grapes undergo direct pressing before ageing in used barrels. Although classified “Vin de France”, this white wine from the Loire is one of the region’s finest; displaying a pale yellow robe with golden reflections, it exudes ripe fruit notes on the nose. Perfect balance in the mouth, combining minerality, strength and aromatic complexity. Complexity is expressed through an unctuous texture, bound with fruit aromas. A highly delicate wine with an astonishing finish.
