Information
Yves Gangloff is a major figure in the Rhône Valley and an artistic winemaker who expresses a unique sensibility through his wines. A rock music fan from the Alsace region, with a somewhat bohemian lifestyle, Yves settled in the area after meeting his future wife Mathilde when he was staying with his brother at the Château d'Ampuis in the 1970s. To make a living he started working as a labourer at Domaine Delas. Here, on the steep terraces of the Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu he got a feel for and learned the basics of viticulture. At the same time, Gaston Andre, a local winegrower offered the couple a plot of vines. And so the Gangloff myth began. In the early days, Mathilde and Yves sold their grapes to the trade but in 1992 they bottled their first vintage. Success came quickly so they expanded their vineyards which have been managed by their children Loup and Elsa since Mathilde's death in 2011.
Yves Gangloff uses a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne to produce this white Saint-Joseph. He cultivates them sustainably in granite and schist soils. This wine, with great potential for keeping (20 years) has a golden colour that exudes floral and ripe fruit notes. It has a rich, energetic palate dominated by an attractive acidity. Gangloff has produced a wine of great refinement that can be enjoyed as an accompaniment to roasted veal with honey and citrus fruits.
