Information
Jean-Pierre Chevalier's parents (winegrowers for three generations) bought Château de Villeneuve in 1969. Vines have existed on the property since the 16th century. There are 16 hectares of Chenin and 20 hectares of Cabernet Franc planted on limestone bedrock. The châteaux of this region are built from this same material. The vineyard has organic certification and Jean-Pierre Chevallier run the estate, producing terroir driven wines with great purity and freshness. A reference of Saumur-Champigny.
Jean-Pierre Chevallier’s cuvée is made exclusively from organically grown Cabernet Franc. He carefully keeps his wines for the entire vinification in cellars dug in the tuffeau stone. Aged for 14 months in oak barriques, they are not marked by woody aromas. Jean-Pierre ensures that they have previously contained three wines. The wines therefore develop aromas of red fruit (cooked strawberry, raspberry), stone fruits, spices and licorice. On the palate, wine lovers are immediately seduced by the suppleness of their tannins and the aromas of red fruit that they find in the finish.
