Information
Founded in 1975 by Chantal Lescure and Xavier Machard de Gramont, Domaine Chantal Lescure is a family domaine that now belongs to their two sons: Aymeric and Thibault Machard de Gramont. An owner harvesting 18 hectares of AOC vineyards, the Domaine Chantal Lescure extends from Chambolle-Musigny in Côte de Nuits to Meursault in Côte de Beaune. In 1996, when Chantal Lescure died, Aymeric Machard de Gramont took over the management of the domaine. The entire organisation of the domaine, and in particular how to work the vines was then re-considered. François Chavériat was hired as a cellar master and has been moving the domaine towards agrobiology since 1997. Today, the domaine is certified organic
From soil rich in iron oxide and clay, the vines grown are fifty years old. Harvested by hand, the grapes are sorted, destemmed, and gently pressed before being vinified in stainless steel vats. The maturation in oak barrels lasts 16-18 months, a choice specific to the domain. This wine, with its ruby red shade, exudes aromas of red fruits, and sometimes black fruits or even coffee depending on the vintage. The chewy palate remains elegant even if the tannins need a few years in the cellar in order to soften. A wine that can be aged for 10 years. Rare, red meats or characterful cheeses will be the perfect accompaniment for this bottle.
