Information
Located in the Entre-deux-Mers region (in Saint-Loubès), the Château Reignac was built in the 16th century by Seigneur Baude de Peyron. Since 1990, it has been owned by Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot who elevated it, within a few years, to being one of the best domaines in Bordeaux with the help of the consultant oenologist Michel Rolland. The vineyard extends over 80ha in one piece; it is planted mostly with Merlot, but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and, over 2 ha, Sauvignon and Sémillon. In a few years this domaine could impose its style and show the full potential of its appellation. It is now recognised as one of the jewels of the region, able to rival the renowned crus of Bordeaux.
The cuvée Balthus is a 100% Merlot, aged in new barrels. Its bouquet is enchanting with very clear aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, spicy notes and licorice. On the palette it is full-bodied, smooth, with a beautifully mature and powerful tannic structure, aromas of prune, fine juice and long-lasting aromas.
