Information
Founded in 1942 by Etienne Grangeon, Domaine Cristia began as just 2 hectares of Grenache vines used to make bulk wine. The domain was taken over by Etienne's son Alain in 1963 who expanded and greatly improved the quality of the wine. This passionate winemaker planted varieties such as Syrah Mourvèdre. It was in 1999 that the third generation took over, represented by Baptiste and Dominique who helped their father reorganise the domain, producing cellar worthy wines on a parcel by parcel basis to sell both in France and to export abroad. Today, Domaine Cristia spans 60 hectares in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône/Villages and Vins de Pays appellations and has held organic certification since 2008.
Certified as organic, Domaine Cristia produces a Châteauneuf-du-Pape from sandy and clay marl soils. The grapes are harvested at optimum maturity. This wine has been aged for 80% of the time in demi-muid barrels and barriques and for 20% of the time in concrete vats. This wine charms us immediately: the attack is generous and lively, the structure is balanced and fresh. Its fruity and spicy aromas pair perfectly with a fine cut of grilled meat.
