Information
Le Macchiole is located closed to the Tyrrhenian sea on the outskirts of Bolgheri. The name refers to the farm on which the vineyard was established in 1975. In 1981, dissatisfied with the quality of the wines his father was producing, Eugenio Campolmi decided to plant new vines. After Eugenio tragically passed away, his wife Cinzia took over the reins of the domaine, with the support of oenologist Luca D'Attoma. Wines are vinified in concrete barrels and vats, and the three grands crus produced on the domaine are single varietals – Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah.
Scrio, a 100% Syrah cuvée, has a deep ruby-red colour. The nose exudes indulgent aromas of red and black berries (blackcurrant, cherry, blackberry), exotic fruits and chocolate, along with notes of spices and violet. The palate has a full body, with great acidity and good length.
