Information
This domaine owned by the descendants of the Marqués de Riscal has always been a trailblazing business and a flagship brand in the Spanish winegrowing and production market. In 1858, it was the first Rioja bodega to make wine using Bordeaux methods. Today, its wines are exported worldwide to over 70 countries. It epitomises the excellence of Rioja and also produces fine white Rueda appellation wines in the south of the province of Valladolid.
This cuvée is a blend of Tempranilla, Graciano and Mazuelo produced from 40-year-old vines cultivated on clay-limestone soils. After the harvest, the grapes macerate for around a fortnight before fermentation. The wine then ages for 2 years in American oak barrels and, after bottling, is ages some time in the bottle before being made available on the market. It’s an expressive, structured and elegant wine. On the nose, there are notes of aging, pepper, liquorice, and ripe fruits. On the palate, it is silky, rich, vibrant and particularly persistent.
