Information
To the south of Perpignan, Sarda-Malet has 51 hectares of vines, in the Côtes-du-Roussillon and Rivesaltes appellations. Two old grape varieties are the soul of the vineyard (Carignan and Grenache Noir planted in the 1940s), while the Mourvèdre and Syrah vines have been replanted. Currently managed by Jérôme Malet, the property was created in 1984 by his father. "My mother and I share the work so as to create the conditions to produce the wines of our dreams. It is a pleasure to see the vines grow each year and watch over the various stages, from flowering to harvest; for me, the wine is made in the vineyard. The nature of the grapes and the variety can then be fully expressed through the terroir. The property is managed according to sustainable farming principles.
The Réserve is the property's classic wine, produced from traditional varieties grown with low yields (25hl/ha) planted on terraces, on pebbles and limestone; it offers great elegance, distinguished fruit and a well-coated structure after barrel ageing. Red fruit mingles with spicy notes, all united in splendid harmony, accompanied by well-defined tannins.
