Information
Michel Muré settled and began winemaking here in Rouffach, just south of Colmar back in the 17th Century. In 1935, his descendent Alfred Muré extended the estate with the addition of Clos Saint-Landelin, replanting these 12 hectares of terraced vineyard to optimise this ideally-situated terroir with its fabulous sun-exposure and shelter from the rain. Today it is Alfred’s grandson René who, along with his children Véronique and Thomas – the domaine’s twelfth-generation vintners – continue to run this execeptional vineyard using biodynamic methods.
Clos Saint Landelin represents the far southern end of the Grand Cru Vorbourg. This is a sweet Pinot Gris, obtained through the meticulous successive harvesting of grapes presenting noble rot. Its natural sweetness comes with great aromatic intensity, revealing sunnied flavours of honey, apricot and lavender on the palate and a fresh steely acidity to finish.
