Information
A 12th century abbey, Château Sainte Roseline is now a huge wine property and a popular site to visit. The property has belonged to the Teillaud family since 1994. First Bernard, then Aurélie Bertin and her daughter have restored and developed the property. The sumptuous site has a park in which an exhibition of works by a famous sculptor is held every year. You can also visit the listed chapel, which contains the Saint Roseline shrine, a fresco by Chagall and a bas relief by Giacometti. A Cru Classé de Provence, the château is in the commune of Arc-sur-Argens.
Prieuré is the flagship cuvée from Château Sainte-Roseline, produced in limited quantities using only the most respectful winemaking methods. The Syrah and Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes are harvested and sorted prior to fermentation which takes place in wooden temperature-regulated vats. Vatting lasts one month with daily punch downs to extract colour and tannins; the wine is then matured for one year in barrels. This is a fabulous food-friendly wine with a rich aromatic profile, marked by notes of liquourice, red fruits, cinnamon and chocolate. It pairs memorably with a rich chocolate dessert or mature, strongly flavoured cheese. Up to 15 years in the cellar allow this cuvée to unveil its potential for elegance and incredible length on the palate.
