Information
Yves Leccia continued at his family property in the early 1980s, after completing his studies in oenology. However, in 2004, he set up his own property with his partner Sandrine: E Croce. It now consists of 15 hectares in Patrimonio, some of the vines are from his father and the rest are rented. The plots, in particular E Croce and Partinelone, are located on clay-limestone and schist terroirs, south-west facing, at the base of the mountains that extend into Cap Corse. The maritime influence of Saint Florent Bay brings maturity and freshness.
The vineyard is planted with four main varieties: Vermentino, Nielluccio and Grenache for the reds, and Ugni Blanc for the Vin de Pays white wines. The property naturally produces Patrimonio, in all three colours, and also Ile de Beauté Vin de Pays (red and white), a red Vin Doux Naturel and some Cap Corse Muscat. The property does not have any certification, but the soil is ploughed and only organic fertilizers are used.
This white Patrimonio is a single-varietal Vermentino, a traditional Corsica grape variety. Harvested by hand at perfect ripeness and selected before entering the winery, the grapes are cold-pressed and left to settle for 24 hours. It then ferments in temperature-controlled vats for 20 days without malolactic fermentation. The wine is then raised for 6 months in stainless-steel vats. Its clear colour offers up floral aromas lifted by notes of honey. The latter bring nice length to the palate. The wine can be aged for five years in your cellar and is perfectly at ease with a meal. White meats, poultry and cheese would be great pairings.
