Information
Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg was created in 1933 by Jeanne Gibourg and André Mugneret. Their son, Georges Mugneret, took over the domaine and expanded it. Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée, the daughters of Georges and Jacqueline, now run it. The vineyards are distributed over the appellations of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Ruchottes-Chambertin and Clos Vougeot. The wines of this domaine have a very classic style and its quality has improved a lot in recent years. The cuvées can be presented under two labels, Georges Mugneret and Mugneret-Gibourg.
The Clos Vougeot Grand Cru comes from a plot bought by Georges Mugneret in 1953: a special date, as he had long been keen to obtain a plot of the legendary Clos Vougeot. This wine combines the finesse of a Ruchottes-Chambertin and the elegance of an Echézeaux. It has considerable cellaring potential.
