Information
Descendants of a long line of wine enthusiasts, Hubert and Bernard Trimbach manage the property with their sons Pierre and Jean. Firmly rooted in Alsace since 1626, the Trimbach name rapidly gained a regional and then international reputation, largely thanks to Frédéric-Emile Trimbach at the end of the 19th century. The property is located on some magnificent terroirs, some benefitting from grand cru status, but appellation approval has never really interested the Trimbach family, who prefer to produce distinguished blends that they market under their own brand names. Their vinification methods have resisted the siren call of modern technology; the owners monitor every stage, with a strict respect for tradition, in order to ensure that the famous "Trimbach style" is preserved, which serves as an international benchmark for Alsace wines.
Gewürztraminer grapes tend to be grown on marly-limestone soil, which gives the wines their punchy character packed with full-bodied fruit and spice. These particular grapes come from the old vines of the historic, eponymous Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre vineyard and are harvested almost overripe. Floral, spiced notes greet the palate with a rich and unctuous consistency. This cuvée is made for cellaring, meaning it can develop layers of complexity without losing any of freshness and natural acidity.
