Information
Jacques Seysses created Domaine Dujac in 1968 by purchasing 4.5 hectares. He is also associated with Aubert de Villaine in the Var (Triennes). Today Jacques's children are the directors of the Domaine Dujac, Jeremy, his wife Diana (an American enologist) and Alec Seysses. The domaine, certified in organic farming, extends over 15 hectares in the largest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits and especially Morey-Saint-Denis. The domaine's wines have excellent aging potential and are characterised by great complexity and delicacy.
Charmes-Chambertin is a vast grand cru (28 hectares) in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. Although it shares traits in common with its prestigious Chambertin and Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze neighbors, the wines it produces are more supple in substance than those of its big brothers. Domaine Dujac's Charmes-Chambertin is worthy of its name, being very attractive even young. The nose is sumptuous, emphasising morello cherry and red berries. Noble vegetal aromas (whole-bunch harvesting) are also discernible. The palate is delicate and extremely clean. It is a sophisticated yet extremely generous wine.
