About the producer
Michel Gaunoux was an excellent winemaker, producing wines perfectly balanced between power and finesse. He fully destemmed his grapes and favoured long vatting periods. Following his death, his wife took over the domain.
About the wine
Les Grands Épenots have a south-easterly exposure. The subsoil here is composed of marl-limestone scree, and the soil is very rich, deep and fine, with excellent drainage. This characteristic encourages the production of rich, sweet wines. A wine of character with thirty years' aging potential.
