Information
Château Brown was built at the end of the Middle Ages, when Aquitaine was still under English rule. It takes its name from an English wine merchant, John Lewis Brown. The chateau went through ups and downs until the purchase in 2005 by the families Mau and Dirkzwager. The property is now managed by Jean-Christophe Mau. Advised by Stéphane Derenencourt, new winery and new parcels continue the growths’ progression. The vines have an average age of 25 years and grow on mounds of silica-gravel on clay subsoil. Average annual production is 80,000 bottles of red and 20,000 bottles of white.
Located near the town of Léognan, cooler region, the château de Brown creates a red classic Pessac wine, straight and balanced. Cabernet Sauvignon being the main grape, it requires 5 years of aging for the tannins to smoothen.
